Why can not more people understand bureaucracy's evil?
Well, because they'd then have to understand parts of themselves that they/their ego will always rather leave "not understood".
What props up and fuels the potentially unlimited (in extension and meanness) edifices of bureaucracy, if not the love and addiction the average person has for that sense of power being part of it, and being able to be mean to some, provides?
Go to an optic's shop, and often you will see that not letting you see one or the other brand's lens catalogue (which the brands, by no coincidence, all avoid uploading to their websites) and being able to lie to you that "they don't make this" or misleading you about what's better, in sum to keep info from you that they only have access to, is the salt of their existence; the last pleasure they'd let go of.
That's why so many websites of brands hide key information and often also product catalogue: their retailers love it that way.
It extends to everything... if one isn't like them and isn't committed not to see it, they will see it.
I pray you come out unscathed from that other bureaucratic nightmare.
This article was enjoyable read and I agree that bureaucracy is demonic. I'd also add that societies ills are because of society itself, because it is the domestication of the human species. Societies aim is to make us dependent on the systems that keep it running, instead of being self reliant.
I am not sure my dear. I seem to have done a really stupid thing, out of ignorance of the laws and of the language. A huge screw-up. Hopefully it ends up not being as bad as it seems right now. Thanks.
Hey just an update, I managed to talk to someone and it seems it wasn't as bad as I initially thought. Again because of my terrible comprehension of German, I thought I had to pay a fine in the level of tens of thousands of euros, but actually the amount mentioned referred to something else. I may have to pay a fine, but it is (probably) not going to be as astronomical as I thought. But I am not yet completely in the clear, I sent the requested documents and I am still waiting for a final answer, but at least I am a bit less stressed now. What will be, will be.
Loved the picture of Kafka when he forgot his password.
Who hasn't had a moment like that? I once got kicked out my own PC because I couldn't remember a password I'd created years ago - thankfully I found a work around.
I hope you encounter an intelligent, empathetic human being soon who can help you with your current bureaucratic malaise, Tom.
Sometimes they make it really hard to do something that should be very simple such as recovering a password when you no longer have access to your old email or phone. More than once I had to give up and just create a new account.
Gmail/Youtube also constantly asks me to verify that I am myself. Yet I never had a single instance when someone actually tried to access my account. It was always myself. But lots of problems with spam, etc. Even search, which in theory is Google's speciality, is very bad inside Gmail and Youtube.
Someone intelligent or empathetic... Hm... i will settle for anyone that simply knows a bit about what he is doing... Thanks.
P.S. I'm (ethnically) Ukrainian and I agree with you that the Ukraine-Russian meat-grinder exercise is a shit-show that needs to stop.
I lay most of the blame at the feet of Jewish "American" neo-cons (like Victoria Nuland), but Ukrainians need to get on top of the corruption that has been ruling their country for far too long.
How could they possibly have been so naive as to elect the Jew Zelenskyy as their president?

I'll be rooting for you, but no one should be punished for having an opinion. It's what freedom of speech is supposed to be for.
Thanks, but in this case it has nothing to do with my opinions, political or otherwise, just a huge huge mess. All the best.
Sorry poor phrasing on my part. Godspeed.

I am glad it's not as bad as you thought, but it's still ridiculous you have to pay a fine. I'll still be praying for you. Take care.

Why does that sound like hoping for a miracle?
